GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club of Knoxville Tennessee Saturday Meeting #1 Jan. 27, 2018

The Model Car Show at The Winter Angel Expo went as well as I had expected. Unfortunately the numbers were low for model car entries. I hope it had to do with this being because of the confusion weather the show was going to happen or not & that I only about 40 days to prepare. In total we only had 112 entries but I'm really praying for a better show next year. We need support from all from all of our Model Car builders, our Model Car Vendors & People or Companies who'd like to sponsor our shows out there.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club of Knoxville Tennessee is proud to announce our newest Sponsor Brian Williams & his awesome company A&B Termite & Pest Control, LLC if you need you have a pest problem give them a call (865) 475 8492

GrUmPy'S Plastic Models Car Club & The Winter Angel Expo 2018 Car / Plastic Model Car Show. Friday / Saturday January 19, 20, 2018

This years Winter Angel Expo was the first year that I "GrUmPy" had the pleasure to run the Plastic Model Car Show. I only had 2 months to get it ready & with 112 entries I've got plenty of room for improvement. The Hamblen County Car Club felt I did a great job with what I had & voted to give me the show from now on. If the show is to grow I'll need everyone's support. Not just my GrUmPsTeRs but Every Plastic Model Car Builder willing to make the trip to White Pine Tennessee in January 2019 & as you can see from looking at the pictures I'm desperately looking for Sponsorship. If you're will to help my club & my show please contact me at my email:  [email protected]

Id like to thank all my GrUmPsTeRs who came in support of me & the show. If it wasn't for them then 2 Modelers from Johnson City Tennessee & 1 Modeler from Hamblen County would have been the only guys to have entered. Hopefully We'll get the word out better this year. GrUmPy....

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club of Knoxville Tennessee & HobbyTown USA Year

Wednesday Meeting #1 Jan. 10, 2018

1. Winter Angel Expo: I'll be at the Expo Center setting up as soon as I can get in the doors which is around 8am on Thursday, January 18, 2018; I'll be there all day Friday & Saturday for the show. I'm nervous & hopeful for a great show. I wish I had more time to get things together.

2. We discussed the New 2018 GPMCCoKT Schedule. Please make note: (ALL EVENT DAYS AT HBUSA ARE NOW FROM 11am -2pm)

3. I'm needing help coming up with demonstrations to do throughout the year. (Spoke with Robert about our final demonstration for RESIN)

4. The New & much improved GrUmPy's Plastic Model Car Club decals are here & For Sale. Large $6 / Small $3

5. We voted as a club during the Christmas party to let Gary pick the first model vehicle kit of our 3 build offs, I went an spoke with two days after the party and he loved the idea, today he let me know what his pick was, this model has NOT been released to the public yet our club will be the first in the area to get our hands on it. the normal cost of this kit is $26,but Gary is going to sell it to us for $23. We can also buy each kit on meeting night at 20% off. Gary is giving us $7.45 discount on on each kit. Just as with the last build off there will be a $2 buy into go toward the grand prize.

Build off rules will be discussed during the next 2 meetings. Wednesday January 10 and Saturday January 27, 2018. THEY WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST BUILD OFF!!

Gary's first pick was the MPC Deserter Truck (Code #848). Then he checked out the Revell new releases fixing to come out. The 1978 GMC Big Country Truck (Code #857226) caught his eye. THE CATCH: Hobbico just filed bankruptcy chapter 11 on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, & we just put an order in for 25 kits to start off with. If all goes right the kits should be at his store for us to pick up for our Wednesday February 7th meeting. If for any reason Revell in unable to get us our kits we will either scrap the first build off or find another kit to build which will push us back further. lets hope that doesn't happen.

RULES FOR THIS BUILD OFF WILL BE DIFFERENT THAT OUR LAST.

RULES for Gary's '78 GMC Country Truck Build Off

1. There will be a $2 buy in that will go towards the grand prize.

2. You can only be entered in the Build Off if you've paid your 2018 Club Dues of $20.

3. The Final build must still resemble the kit as it was when came from the box. In other words it still needs to look like a PICKUP TRUCK. You can still Raise, Lower, Paint, Decal, Chop, Shorten, Lengthen, Change engines, Modify the interiors & yes you can still use the wheels & tires off of diecast junk. If you have an idea you thing might be in the grey area of the build off rules please send me a GM / GrUmPy Message.

5. Once I put your name in for BUYING a Model Kit, you are financially responsible for the kit or kits.

Keep Checking back as these Rules may be updated.

Model Car Swap Meet information

After speaking with Gary about our upcoming Model Car Swap Meets & the dilemma of where to hold them; he said it would be fine to still have the Swap Meet at HTUSA with some Rules of his own. We talked about different ideas & want could happen. We believe if everyone follows these rules & we keep a sharp eye out this year will be better than last.

1. Everyone who is participating in the swap meet will bring everything in through the front door in closed containers or boxes. They will take everything out the very same way. Each person must have someone they trust watching there stuff while they unload & load the up to help with loss.

2. The Admins will be on both sides of the door coming into the meeting area.

3. Once you've brought everything in & are setup you may not leave the meeting area with anything in your hands or bring anything back in. If you buy something from HTUSA they will put it in one of their HBUSA bags & you WILL take it out to your vehicle before returning to the meeting area.

4. If anyone buy's or trades you for anything while inside HTUSA; this transaction must take place in the meeting area & you will put the items sold or traded for in a bag other that a HTUSA bag. (Walmart, Walgreen's, Krogar, CVS, Etc..

BREAKING NEWS! BREAKING NEWS! BREAKING NEWS!
Hobbico (Revell / Monogram ) FILES BANKRUPTCY 332 Jobs Lost
Wednesday January 10, 2018

Hobbico filed for bankruptcy protection Wednesday, which could result in 332 layoffs at its Champaign facility.

In a statement, Hobbico said that it plans to sell the company and will continue operating throughout the bankruptcy process.

Hobbico also said that as it has grown, it has added too much debt and hasn’t been able to successfully restructure, especially facing “an increasingly competitive industry, market headwinds and a series of one-off events with key suppliers.”

In its filing with the United States Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, Hobbico said it has an estimated 200 to 999 creditors, $10 to $50 million in assets, and $100 to $500 million in liabilities.

“Despite Hobbico’s core strengths, our business has faced a number of challenges in the last few years, and we have taken steps to ensure all available options to restore the stability of the Company have been exhausted,” said Louis Brownstone, Hobbico’s president. “However, while these efforts were taken to rebuild revenue and profitability, they did not sufficiently address our challenges and we decided to pursue a Chapter 11 reorganization and attempt to attract new capital investment.”

In a notice sent to employees Wednesday, the distributor of hobby products said the layoffs, if they happen, could begin in April.

Hobbico “has determined that it may be necessary in the near future to permanently close and discontinue all of its operations in connection with a bankruptcy case to be filed under chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code,” wrote human resources Director Howard Salazar in a letter dated Wednesday obtained by The News-Gazette.

The letters were sent as a formal notice under the Illinois Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires employers to notify employees and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity 60 days before they plan to make mass layoffs.

"I can't speak for the company, but it's usually one of the last steps," said Jacquelyn Reineke, spokeswoman for the IDCEO. "Most of the time, it's pretty serious."

Hobbico said it could avoid the layoffs, as it has been trying over the past several months to restructure the company's obligations to creditors.

"That plan provides for continued funding during the bankruptcy case to support the Company's business operations, including the preservation of employee jobs and related wages and benefits, until the Company can be sold," Salazar wrote.

However, Hobbico said that it can't assure that the buyer would continue employing people at its Champaign location.

"Thus, upon the sale of the company, it is possible that there will be a permanent shut down of all Hobbico operations and locations and the permanent termination of all Hobbico employees, including the permanent layoff of all 332 employees assigned to the Company's facility at 2904 Research Road, Champaign," Salazar wrote.

Additionally, Hobbico said that to continue receiving funding, it has to meet several conditions, "which cannot be assured," Salazar wrote.

"If those conditions are not met, then it is possible that the Company may lose access to those funds, and the Company may be forced to shut down its operations."

In closing, Salazar reiterated that the company hopes to stay open.

"We realize that the uncertainty regarding the future of the Company may be concerning to employees, and we hope to be able to keep the business open through the bankruptcy and sale of the business, in order to minimize the disruption to the lives of our employees and their families," he wrote.

In its statement, Hobbico said filing for bankruptcy protection “is difficult, but it will help preserve the value of our business.”

“And it’s the right thing to do for our company and our employees,” Brownstone said. “Under the process afforded to us under Chapter 11, we hope to reach an agreement with our creditors that will allow us to implement a restructuring plan that fully addresses our financial challenges while simultaneously identifying a prospective buyer that shares our vision of providing the best possible outcome for our employees and the future of Hobbico.”

Hobbico was formed in 1986 when Clint Atkins combined two companies he bought: Don Anderson's Great Planes Model Distributors and Bruce Holecek's Tower Hobbies, which was founded in 1971.

According to its website, Hobbico is the largest U.S. distributor of hobby products and has 12 different facilities, including five in Champaign-Urbana and others in Germany, the United Kingdom, California, Colorado and Nevada.

And according to the latest top employers report from the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation, Hobbico is the 19th-largest employer in the county.

But it has been in a rough patch lately.

The U.S. Department of Labor is investigating Hobbico's employee stock-ownership plan after the company deferred payments.

After deferring those payments at the end of 2016, then-CEO Wayne Hemming wrote to employees that, "It is expected that 2017 will also be a challenging year for the business."

The share value of employee stocks recently declined by more than 80 percent, with one former employee saying the value of her ESOP account dropped from just over $27,000 to less than $5,000.

Hobbico also recently announced it will close its 200,000-square-foot distribution facility in Reno, Nev., on Feb. 28.

"This step follows a number of actions Hobbico has taken over the past 18 months to control our costs, reduce our debt and improve our overall financial position. Among other things, we have taken steps to refinance our debt, increase product pricing and improve product profitability, improve operational inefficiencies and develop new product lines to address declining sales," HR manager Megan Huppert wrote Jan. 4 in an email to employees obtained by The News-Gazette.

"Despite these efforts, our business continues to face significant challenges. As we have shared before, we are experiencing increasing competition and our leading product lines have been negatively impacted by market headwinds and a series of one-time events with key suppliers."

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club of Knoxville Tennessee & HobbyTown USA Year End Show #4
11-25-17
I'm extremely excited to talk about our 4th & final show of 2017. WOW!!! What a show it was, if you missed it you missed a great one. We held this show just 2 days after Thanksgiving because its Hobby Towns BIGGEST & BUSIEST day of the year. We had all 3 of HT USA's Modeling Clubs in the house & a select few of our GrUmPsTeRs were in a Model Car Build Off. Some build the 1966 Chevy Suburban & The others built a Disney themed vehicle. Both build off groups could build their models any way they saw fit. This brought out some seriously creative ideas as you can see from the picture here of our beautiful showcase.

Thank you everyone & to all the clubs who came in support of each other. I really did enjoy looking at everyone builds & cant wait to do it again in 2018.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club of Knoxville Tennessee & HobbyTown USA Model Car Show #3 9-30-17

This show was supposed to be all three clubs & open to the public but life gets in the way & I dropped the ball. So only 11 GrUmPsTeRs made it to HobbyTown USA for our 3rd of 4 shows of year that we hold here. Still it wasn't a bad show & we had a good time talking with each other & had a few interested in joining us. I'm always glad to see youngsters wanting to learn how to build model kits even if I have to hide them after they get built so they don't get played with then destroyed. Believe me; the kids will thank me one day. I know I would have thanked my parents if they had done that for me, but then again who knew our hobby would have taken the dive that it has taken. GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 9-13-17

After I rescheduled the meeting from last week to yesterday I was glad to see the turnout. I'm hoping from now on our Wednesday meeting will go this well. I asked everyone to bring in a W.I.P. or 2 with them & I really appreciate every one did. after I get done talking about the information I've got there is always time after to share & talk about our hobby or whats gone on since the last time we all saw each other. If this could become a habit from now on it will help me a ton.

We talking about the Southern NATS NNL model car show down in Georgia. Yes I'd like to go but 4 hours down, hangout time, then 4 hours back home is way to long of a day. I was hoping to talk to the NNL club but as I read the information about the show I saw that its being put on by the IPMS... What??? Yeah that's what I said.

Jennifer & I thought about having a Christmas party here at GrUmPy central a.k.a. our HOME. Then we got to thinking about it & decided that I don't like y'all enough to have you over... Actually it's for other reason.. Anyway: I spoke with Lynn about this & he offered up Shoney's. Since he works as a police officer there on the weekends after he's done busting bad guys throughout the week. He will talk to them about the dates we are voting on to see if the party room isn't taken for that day. depending on the voting it will hopefully be on one of the these 3 days. Saturday December 2nd, 9th or 16th. Whatever day it falls on we will need to eat from the troth (Buffet) or order from the menu.

We spoke of a few new releases that have been announced & look forward to adding them to our stashes.

Everyone need to remember to clean off all your models if not already clean, fix what needs fixen after they've fallen off the top shelf (David RED Snyder) & finnishing what we can for the Model Show at the home of GPMCCoKT. (HobbyTown USA) This is scheduled for Saturday September 30th from 11am - 1pm. This is open too the public & hopefully we will get more members. Bring ever model you can just in case the other clubs don't show.

Lastly: Just before we called this meeting to close we a motion to have a RED car build off. (David RED Snyder) Then my beautiful wife Jennifer The Pink Lady Holliday said why not call it the Valentines Build Off. We will discuss the details of this build off at our next Wednesday meeting scheduled for October 10th.

A special Thanks needs to go out to GrUmPsTeRs Troy Hull & Bart Hutson for taking the time out for each meeting since they come to nearly every meeting. They drive 2 hours each way to get to HobbyTown USA. The same goes for Jason & Jenn Banks as they drive just over 2 hours each way each time we have a Saturday meeting. That is dedication to our club. I thank everyone for helping make my vision come true. I love our hobby & this gets me out of the house. I enjoy sitting & talking to ya'll & even when I'm at home I get to hear from some of you through text, GM's, & phone call.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 8-26-17

Our Second of 4 resin classes had a great turnout, but unfortunately I had the tables set up wrong. For that I apologize for all of the GrUmPsTeR's who were unable to hear & see Robert give his demonstration. I'm glad that I'm videoing these classes because its chemistry. with the cost of the Resin Kits at $80 I'm not in a mad rush to screw up my kit. Our Next Resin Class is scheduled for Saturday, October 28th 11am / 1pm. Robert asked that everyone who intends on coming to the next class can bring in a small part they'd like to replicate. (Nothing bigger that a 1:25 hood.

We had discussed the possibility of changing from an IPMS club to an NNL club. I'm still looking into it.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 8-9-17

Today we brought in our "service" Builds & Two of our GrUmPsTeRs had a side build going so they brought those in as well. I encourage everyone to bring in their current W.I.P's & the CALLING IT DONE builds. today I'm highlighting Doug Harvey's "JINX EXPRESS / ROLLER TOASTER MOD" as you can see from the picture above, Doug likes to think & build outside the box as do most of us. I got a chuckle out it when I saw the Modifications he'd done to this model. Turning it into a toaster was a stroke of genius.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club's MANDATORY Meeting 7-29-17

* HobbyTown USA accidentally over ordered Revell 1/25 '66 Chevy Suburbans so now there are 17 more in the store than what we needed. If you'd like to pick up some more for your stash & help Gary out at the same time by getting them off his shelves please do so.

* Everyone who had model kits pre-ordered must pick them up today or they go on the store shelf & I WON'T Pre-Order another kit for you again. I will not put our sponsor in the position of fronting money for people that say they will pick up on a designated day then back out. The members who have made arrangements with me to pick theirs up I've got them.

* After Speaking with Gary; (Owner on HobbyTown USA in Knoxville Tennessee) we came to an arrangement that will make this build off way different than any we'd done prier. This is why each member who is taking part in the Build off will need to pitch in $2 per model they intend to build in the class they've chosen. In turn Gary will add $25 to each pot & I'd then take the total amount for both build off classes to Gary or Jeremy to put it on a HobbyTown USA Gift Card as the grand prize. (STIPULATIONS: TO BE ELIGIBLE TO REMAIN A MEMBER OF THE CLUB, THE BUILD OFF & THE GRAND PRIZE. YOU MUST HAVE HAD YOUR $20 ANNUAL CLUB DUES & YOUR $2 PER BUILD OFF ENTRY PAID BY SATURDAY 8-26-17)

RULES FOR BOTH THE DISNEY & '66 SUBURBAN BUILD OFF.

*1. Model Entry Boxes can be open to look so you can look over the kit, but DO NOT OPEN ANY OF THE PLASTIC BAGS!!!

*2. I will send an S or D code to each member who has entered & met the qualifications listed above to them in a GM / GrUmPy Message. Once you have this code I'll need you to write it legibly in the lid of the box, If you are building more than one I will send you a second S or D code. Then spread out tall the parts "STILL IS THE PLASTIC BAGS" in front of the lid & take a clear clean picture. Post it on the Build off group you were added to by me earlier.

*3. Here is the fun part.... Build as you see fit with these exceptions. NO DIECAST or TOY PARTS. The only parts you can use from a DIECAST are the WHEELS & TIRES since they are as close as you can get to the aftermarket ones you would buy anyway. You may use other Model parts, Resin parts, & Styrene.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 7-12-17

We as a club have been talking in depth about our next build off. We've always built either a certain theme with a wide verity of model kits that can be built to fill the need but we had never built as one. As you can see from the picture above our club members still have two choices to build from. Here is was we came up with.

The Disney Build Off: Any model of your choice as long as its a Disney Themed Build. (REFINED RULES WILL BE DISCUSSED IN OUR NEXT MEETING)

The '66 Suburban Build Off: This one is plain & Simple. You have to build this kits. (REFINED RULES WILL BE DISCUSSED IN OUR NEXT MEETING)

Having these two choices really made the club happy & this gave me the chance to work on a grand prize for both build offs. Normally we built just for the fun of it but I figure once a year Id try to get our sponsor HobbyTown USA in Knoxville Tennessee to work something out with us. Each member had to pitch in $2 per model they intend to build in their class. In turn our Sponsor would give $25 on two HB USA gift cards plus add the money I collected to those cards. The winners in each class would win the cards.

We are having a model show at HobbyTown USA in Knoxville Tennessee Saturday November 25, 2017 11am - 2pm. This is HB USA's busiest weekend of the year. While the show is going on we will have our build off models out on display for the public to vote on. That's right THE PUBLIC WILL DECIDE WHO WILL WIN THE GRAND PRIZES. GrUmPy....

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club's 1st Resin Class of 4  6-24-17

Robert Vancel is the only member in our club that I'm aware of that know the ins & outs of Resin Casting & Model making. I was thrilled when he agreed to teach the club how to learn this craft. I actually bought the large kit a few years ago with a certain project in mind, but never had the nerve to open the kit up & take the chance of throwing away $80 if I screwed it up. Our 2nd of 4 classes is scheduled for Saturday 8-26-17 at our Home Sponsor of HobbyTown USA in Knoxville Tennessee. So come on down if you'd like to see what our club is all about & I'll be glad to answer all of your questions plus give you more information about our club.

Thank you Robert for sharing your skills with us. GrUmPy...

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 5-10-17

WOW! WHAT AN OUTSTANDING  MEETING WE HAD FOR A  WEDNESDAY!!! I was really happy for a GrUmPy Guy. In fact Jeremy was working at the front of the store (HOBBY TOWN USA) & said " I thought GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club was meeting back there? But there was to much laughing going on". We had a great time & had the chance to meet our newest GrUmPsTeRs which is always awesome. I was able to pick on David Snyder as always & he poked right back. Then everyone jumped in on me with a massive mutiny over the RED RULE. The RED RULE is NO SOLID PAINTED RED MODELS are allowed. Its a GrUmPsTeRs thang. I found out in Cleveland that Roger Hall was going to be the first of the mutineers & then last nights meeting showed how deep it was going to go. Parker Hall was nice enough to send me a BUTT HURT form to fill out & I'll post it up once I do fill it out. (Thanks Buddy) The model shown above belongs to one of our newer GrUmPsTeRs Tommy "HOTROD" Justus. I gave him an ear full when he brought this car into the meeting last night, I even skipped over him when it was his turn to talk about his build but of course I went back to him. Just to show I'm not BUTT HURT I even posted it up for everyone to see it, but this picture doesn't do it justice.

5-12-17  /  We will be doing all of our last minute & last second Fixes, Polishing, & Gathering up of repair kits, Gather up the models & making sure they are packed up safely for travel. Because tomorrow is Saturday 5-13-17; we will be loaded up & meeting each other in the packing lot of the Jacobs Building in Knoxville Tennessee for the 35th Annual Smoky Mountain Model-Con. They mainly had military models there last year so we are going to see if we can help diversify that situation. LOCK & LOAD GrUmPsTeRs...

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club & The 3rd Annual White Water Classic Model Car Show 4-29-17

The Ocoee Model Club with Chip Rymer at the helm gave us a different spin on an IPMS Model Car Show than what we are accustom to, but it was still a great atmosphere for everyone who attended the show from what I could see. The different spin was: No classes; instead it was like a potluck dinner where you could bring any type of model car you wanted & put them anywhere you wanted. The awards were for the top 15  out of everyone who would enter the show plus specialty awards like best Paint, GM, FORD, MOPAR, 7 Jr.. The voting was the same as last year which I loved; If you enter models you get to vote. The voting was very hard because of the caliber of models brought in to be shown & judged. I've been building for 40 years & I'm proud to say I always learn something new pretty much every day where I has to do with Model Building; as far as everything else I know it all, just ask my wife & kids. I was thrilled to see 2 of my GrUmPsTeRs WIN Awards in the 15 out the almost 300 model cars there. A HUGE Congratulations to Doug Harvey with his beautifully built TEXACO Diorama & to Mike Justus for his extremely detailed DRILLING RIG. All in All it was a great show with great friends & vendors. This was the last year for the "BRING AS MANY MODEL CARS AS YOU WANT FOR $10) Starting next year it will be just like all the rest of the shows we go go to in the area. $10 for the first 3 & $1 per model car after that. So no shocked faces at the door; I've just warned you as I will in the meetings leading up the the 4th Annual White Water Classic Model Car Show in 2018. I see you all there. GrUmPy.....

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 4-22-17

Tired from staying up late the night before making sure I had everything I needed for The HobbyTown USA early summer model show 2017. I needed to make double & triple sure I didn't let our sponsor & friend Gary Phillips down after I promised him a stress free Model Show & that I would take care of everything. He held up to his end of the deal which you should know about if you've kept up on our clubs activity's from the post below. So now it was my turn & at first I was nervous because only a few of my GrUmPsTeRs showed up & none from the other clubs came yet. Then it seemed like all at once it blew up & everyone came in together. I was relieved & then worried we would run out of room. As it turned out it was a perfect day for a show besides it raining, Being on the same day as the Orange & White game, plus Bristol weekend.

What did I get out of this show? I'll tell you. when I'm sitting behind my table with all these like minded people who may not build the same type of models as my club does; or in the case with the club we share HobbyTown with, they are a "Model" club where we are a Plastic Model Car Club & are very defined in our name what we want in our club. That doesn't mean if you want to join my club you cant because you build Military, Boats or Ships. we accept most everyone. Anyways as I looked around the room at the people walking threw our show checking out the different models & speaking to the Modelers asking questions about the builds on the tables; I almost cracked a grin over it. It's cool seeing a little kid come running up to our table because of something you built & watch the parents freak out like they had their kids in an art gallery. DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!!! I'd hear a lot of them say to their youngens which made me feel good because they had some sort of control on them. The other great thing that came out of this particular show is; we gained 9 new GrUmPsTeRs. I was as shocked as you are right now reading this. Their names will be listed below. One new guy Larry R. just walked in with a model car box, opened it up & placed his 2 models on the table between PUG'S & David M.'s builds. None of us had ever met or seen Larry before this chance encounter. Pugs, David & I walked over to introduce ourselves & give him one of our cards when he told us his name & that he was just getting back into building model cars after many years of being out of the loop & up to date on how the hobby has changed & boy has it changed. He had come into the store days before & saw our showcase full of awesome builds & our clubs information. He walked upfront & spoke to Jeremy who told him all about us & the show today. I'm very thankful for the staff of HobbyTown USA in Turkey Creek Knoxville TN. they are always nice & helpful.

Now for our Newbies to the club: As I looked over their builds & listened to them apologize for this paint, or that glue, I'm going to say this like I & all my more experienced modelers should to anyone just starting out in our hobby, just getting back into our hobby or just can't get it the way they want it because of a health issue or even PTSD. ( It doesn't matter to us what your build looks like & we don't care how long you've been building models of whatever kind. What does matter; is that you give 110% when thinking of how you want your model to look at the end, Give 110% while building & painting your model. If something havens during the build not to plan; REMEMBER THAT IT"S PLASTIC, IT CAN BE CUT APART FIX CORRECTLY & YOU"LL BE BACK ON TRACK. If anything you get yourself into seems to far outside your wheelhouse bring it to the next meeting & we will help you as a club. That is what's great about being a member of GrUmPy'S. We help & support each other & you will get better in time. I've been building since I was 5 years old; my first model was a 1/25 Peterbilt that my dad bought me. I had a 1 tube of Testors glue, 1 Paintbrush, & a small set of Testors paints. I tried building that thing in one day; there was glue everywhere but were it needed to be. Did I wait for the glue to fully cure before painting? Heck NO!!!! I got my little hard bristled brush & plunged it ti the bottom of that bottle of red paint & went to town. I used black on the frame & interior which I painted through the windows because I didn't read directions. Still to this day on my person email signature it reads (IF ALL ELSE FAILS READ THE DIRECTIONS) I'm guessing you've all got one jacked up image in your head while thinking of my first build, but that was over 40 year this April 27, 1977 on my birthday. By nightfall I gave that sticky glob of paint, glue, & plastic to my dad & said thank you for the model truck; can you get me anther model? He bought me one a week after that & with time I got better but i'm still learning new ways of building, shortcuts to build easier & finding ways not to waist so much money on supplies & all of you just getting back into this hobby or just starting out will pick up on all of this. GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 4-12-17

This was a shortened meeting since it was a Wednesday, but that doesn't mean we didn't get a lot completed. First of all most everyone who knows me knows I've got a bad ticker, so it lost a few more beats when I received a text from a GrUmPsTeR who has NEVER missed a meeting since he started in November 2016 saying he wasn't going to be making the meeting... I'm speaking of David Snyder, if you've ever had the pleasure of meeting him or have seen how he feels about this hobby & the people in it; you will feel his passion as a Modeler & fellow  GrUmPsTeR. I pick on him over it but he welcomes every new member in like family as we all should because that is what this club & FB Group was made for.

Starting Today Wednesday 4-12-17: We are starting our Summer Theme Build. (Straight Line Drag Racing, Any kind, Any era.) Contact me on FB by sending me a GM / GrUmPy Message or TEXT ME if you have any questions. 1-(865) 773-4326 (TEXT ONLY) I'll be GrUmPy to help you.

This Theme Build will have a few months build time with it because between now & Saturday July 29, 2017 when they are all due; we as a club will be traveling to 4 different Model Car shows.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 3-25-17

The GrUmPsTeRs & I brought in our completed White Elephant / Model Exchange builds we received back in November 2016. Yea, we finally brought them in to show our work. Some of them we'd seen already but its still cool to look at them again like David Snyder's Ford Cougar II Concept that he turned into a Bad A$$ boat. Then we have David Marshall's Ford Bronco; To say we were all very envious & happy for him is an understatement. David went camping with his Bronco & it came out great. John Griffis unwraps a Jet. That's right A JET & we are a PLASTIC MODEL CAR CLUB, but more than that we are MODELERS which means we can roll with the punched & that's just what John did as did Drew Turner who also received an airplane, but this one was a Biplane. Drew isn't a conventional Modeler by any stretch of the word. He normally builds RATROD Model & RATROD vehicles in his everyday life. So Drew looked at the Biplane as a challenge he could have fun with. Drew put a BIG BLOCK HEMI  With 4 bottles of Nitrous Oxide & a Blower in this Biplane. I had an Alabama State Troopers Crown Vic kit. My option are normally very boring & limited to the same old same old. Built the car Box Stock, Build The Crown Vic as a  bone sock civilian car, Build the car as a Demolition Derby Car, or a rust bucket sitting in the back 40. I've seen these cars does this way a ton of times & lets face it I'm a Tennessean & I bleed ORANGE so there was no way I was going to build a BAMA car. (GO VOLS) I'm not a PC guy but this is my club so I need to be careful here. I looked at this car & kept looking around my den at my stash of kits in hopes something would cause a light to cut on. After about 2 hours of sitting there drinking my ice cold beverages I got to thinking about the political seen & how bad our police have it. They're never liked or needed in certain areas until all Hell has broken out. Our police are driving around with targets on them & prices on their heads in some cases. This brought me to my build; I don't normally build military but I've got a few in my stash; so I use the part off of a German Panther Tank & mounted on the roof of the car after reinforcing it of course. I then replaced the glass with styrene to simulate steel, but added box style turret holes for the gunners inside. Finally I replaced the rear end with the tanks tracks.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 3-8-17

I spoke with Gary Phillips (Owner of Hobby Town USA Knoxville Tennessee) about having another model show show like the one we had at the end of 2016. He was interested in the show, but knew he'd be very short short handed & won't be able to help at all. I assured Gary that I was up for this task & my club wouldn't let him down. All I ask of him I to advertise from his end & send the information to the other 2 clubs along with GrUmPy'S so I could pass I on to my GrUmPsTeRs & anyone else who wanted to go. So the Date is set for Saturday April 22, 2017; Yes this is our regularly scheduled meeting date & time plus a few hours. Set up will start at 10 a.m. & go through 2 p.m.  We will be talking about the second show for later this year after July. That is when we have our last "KNOWN" model car show. The Model show at Hobby Town USA "OUR AWESOME SPONSOR" will be strictly for fun & to hopefully talk to people about our hobby; after all, Plastic model car building is a dying art form. To many electronic toys out there making people not want to relax & take the time to build something with their own hands. I know from person experience that Plastic Model Car Building is a great way to RELEASE STRESS, IT CAN HELP WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF PTSD, IT CAN BRING FAMILIES TOGETHER, & IT CAN CHALLENGE YOU IN WAYS YOU DIDN'T THINK POSSIBLE. (Force you to think outside the box & beyond your comfort zone.)

John Griffis has generously decided to put 2 Masters Airbrushes, a Master Rebuild Kit, & a Mini Air Compressor up for Raffle at $10 per Ticket With half of the proceeds going to the club. If you would like to buy tickets & try your luck at a great prize you can let John or myself know know we will both have Raffle Tickets available for you.

We had tossed the idea around about having a club wide Model Car Swap meet. We put it on the back back burner for further discussion at a later date.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 2-25-17

This was our first Demonstration of 2017 for GrUmPy'S & one of my most loyal GrUmPsTeRs (John Griffis) demonstrated for us his way of making homemade scratch built biscuits I mean Headers. I've tried this before & we both cut our teeth doing this from the same teach who does not live in the Knoxville TN area unfortunately. (Mr. Charles Sanford)  This is just one picture I was able to get of John making his headers. The key is 2 fold... 1 Find a set a headers from a model kit that you like a lot. Then get the proper supplies ill be mentioning the pictures in the HOW TOO'S, TIP'S, & TRICK'S section of this website & PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Because PRACTICE MAKES  P E R F E C T...

*Unfortunately two of my close friends have asked me to step down as Administrators. Drew Turner & Floyd Marsee Jr. both have their reason. They are valid & 100% understandable; I'm hoping somewhere down the road they will find their way back to building models & come back to our club. There will always be a seat for them here at GPMCCoKT & they will always be GrUmPsTeRs in my book Jason GrUmPy Holliday ( President / CEO / Founder of GPMCCoKT )

*NO LONGER AN ADMINISTRATOR: Gary DAUGHTERTY. voted out for missing to many meeting without notifying another Admin & for also never being a team player. Never joined the FB Page, Never Joined the Message board, did not play well  with others or listen to authority during model shows.* Jason GrUmPy Holliday ( President / CEO / Founder of GPMCCoKT )

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 1-28-17

During this meeting we brought in our trophies from the White Pine Winter Angels 2017 Show where Drew Turner, Brad Smith, David Snyder, Mikey Justus, Tommy Justus & myself came home with awards of one kind or another. As always my GrUmPsTeRs showed up in force in force & were all class acts. Other members who were there that I knew about & I'm sorry if I miss anyone.. Jennifer Holliday, Morgan Holliday, Lynn Hall, Parker Hall, Roger Hall, David Marshall & Sarge Hollon. Again if I missed anyone I'm sorry just text me & I'll be glad to correct it.

It was a good day for our club as a hole.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 1-11-17

We had a GREAT meeting for a Wednesday. 15 members in all were there & we had a blast. Some of us showed off our white 🐘 builds & the others had their W.I.P.'S to work on so we could see what they've got going on & have planned in the future. Our next meeting is Saturday, 1-28-17 from 11am - 1pm. Remember if you come to a meeting in January I've dropped the price of our decals by $1. Thank you to the members who paid their club dues.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club Meeting 12-17-16

Yes, it was our last meeting of 2016 & we did it in style & with fun. We have our Model Exchange & some of us lucked out with the models we received like David Marshall with New Ford Bronco kit by Revell. If you've seen the progress that Drew "RATROD" Turner has done on his then you know what an awesome kit this is. The rules for our model exchange builds were simple. DO AS YOU WANT TO IT!!! That's right, we have full freedom to do whatever we wish to our models. I received the Alabama State Troopers Crown Vic from someone & you know there is only so much a person can do to that type of car. Slam it, Built it stock, Built it as the State troopers car, Build it as a derby car, or try to pro street it. I think everyone will be surprised when they see the car next time.

A few of us brought in our Dioramas. There were some really nice ones there. A barn with moonshine stills Built By: Cody Brink, A Garages that looked like something we all wish we really had in full scale Built By: David Marshall, & the one you see above Built By Jake Kraft called "Out to Pasture".

I need all 39+ member to know & understand starting at our 1st meeting back is 2017. EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO BE IN GPMCCoKT MUST PAY THEY'RE CLUB DUES. If we are going to grow as a club & put money away so we can eventually have enough to put on our own show, we must be loyal to the club first by participating fully & paying our Club Dues. I made a change this year for the kids in the club. Adult are still $20 each & Children 16 & younger are $10 each. (Honor System)

Saturday December 17th meeting is this weekend. It's the last meeting of 2016 so let's do it right. The members who are bringing in the Dioramas they've been working in need to bring them in for all to see. Also we are have the White 🐘 / Model Exchange. The rules are pick a model out of your stash that you've started on & have all of the parts still in the box. The model can have NO "plastic" modifications done to it at all. If you DON'T have a model you've started but DO have one in your stash that you've fallen out of love with a can part with wrap it up. You don't have to buy white wrapping paper. Do what I did & turn it inside out. Any questions send me a GM / GrUmPy Message. GrUmPy😡🇺🇸....

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club of Knoxville Tennessee

12-6-16 meeting held at HobbyTown USA

This meeting was to be a meeting of the minds. The more the better, but instead only the core members were there as always.

GREAT NEW FROM OUT SPONSOR GARY PHILLIPS (Owner of Hobby Town USA), STARTING 12-17-16 " Our Next Meeting" OUR CLUBS MEMBERS WILL ENJOY THE EXTRA BENEFITS OF A 20% OFF DISCOUNT ON ALL MODELS & MODEL  RELATED SUPPLIES.

  1. We discussed the 2017 schedule of shows we as a club should go to.
  2. We discussed the lack of attendance & what it might take to get our "members" to come to the meetings.
  3. We discussed the problem of our members not paying their membership fees. " Without our membership fees being paid our club cannot move forward and grow. (Model Shows)
  4. We made a rough draft of what we'd like to see this year as demonstrations from our members. (Weathering, wreckage, scratch built frames, tubbing, window / windshield replacement, chop tops, stretch / shorten cars, 2 bodies into 1, resin castings from start to finish, engine wiring, hinges, paint techniques, tire scuffing, LED wiring,....
  5. We discussed the fact that our club has a website & even with as much as I've push it on the club to look at the website, Click the LIKE Button, Click the SHARE Button, & if you have a Twitter account to Click on the TWITTER Button. If our own members won't promote the club we cant grow locally.
  6. Our plan is to have meetings on the 2nd & 4th Saturday if all works out well in the negotiations on the 26th. On one Saturday we'll bring in the model on our bench or our W.I.P.. this way we can work on them as a club together & maybe help each other. It might take some getting use to but once we figure out a go bag of model gear to take with us I think it will work it self out.

I know our club is still in its in an infancy as a physical club & we seem to be helping other clubs make their shows great by going to their model car shows, but I figure these same clubs will be willing to help us when we are ready to put on our first show. We want our club to grow & the only way we can do this is by helping other clubs & hope they help us by sharing information on things like, Where do we start as a club on getting our first show off the ground, some of them are more helpful than others. Since none of my admins or I have ever put on our own Model Show. We would love to get our Club on the map in all ways possible. We are doing pretty good online with our face Book group page, Face Book LIKE page, & now we have our Website & Instagram pages. If we could get some education on how to get started, a place to hold one, roughly how much this will cost the club to run a show, how to get the good Vendors, How much different clubs pay for trophies & plaques? Tables & chairs if not available with the location we'd hold the show in & I could go on & on with questions. I'm hoping the clubs I'm asking my question to will be willing to help.

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club's November Meetings.

As you know from the message i posted on our clubs message board, there will be NO meetings in the month of November. The Tuesday meeting needed to be canceled because on Sunday October 31st I was admitted to the hospital for my seizure issues & I was there for 5 days. Thank all y'all for the well wishes & prayers. I really wanted to do the website updates, but I didn't trust the internet so I waited until I was home & felt better. As for the end of November we had decided early on in the year not to have a meeting since it would be so close to Thanksgiving. It's a great time to get fat on Turkey & watch football or just hangout with the family.

Yes you're reading this correctly these are the members who brought their awesome builds to the show plus we still had models in the showcase. With just the models on the table we had a grand total of 23 member & 163 models. We pretty much owned the entire back room where the show was held. 5 out the 9 tables available were our tables. The Mariners Club & The other local model club had 2 tables each. Not only did we have a great turn out from our members, the customers coming in the store couldn't get enough of the skill from the different builders & asked us all kinds of questions. Even better, we increased our membership by 7 new members.

I'm so very sorry for being late on this update. I'm reaching out to find a way make our Photos all on here at once. I may end up needing to pay for the website instead of the free version because I've got tons of pictures from our members I'd love to add on here.

Meeting Info & a GrUmPy Gripe / Pep Talk for my members.
Just remember I Love my Club, this Hobby, & all my members because without you, GrUmPy'S is just a Name.

This passed meeting had a great demonstration that most of the club missed unfortunately. Out of 27 LOCAL MEMBERS, only 6 showed up. I was given a heads up by a few of them but would really like to see more participation in this FULL PARTICIPATION CLUB. I can understand the Tuesday meetings are kinda hard to get to after working all day. Have no fear the schedule will be changing for the better very soon. As for our Saturday meetings we get a little better crowd but nothing like what we had on our first 3 meetings. I'm hoping with the weather change so will the crowd. The club can't grow without you. I know it sounds like I'm harping, but I'm not. I'm trying to inspire you as members to spend some time with like minded people. I know you're building models, because I see your post on GrUmPy'S & other groups. Some of you are in my local club by name only so far because I've never met you yet. Trust me when I say I'm not the only one in the club who would like to meet you & see what you've been working on in person. If you're shy, we have a shy section just for you until you warm up to us which won't take long at all. This Club & this hobby of building plastic model cars & trucks is what I do to keep my mind going. I'm in Congestive Heart Failure, with 4 heat attacks & 5 heart surgeries under my belt. I have different types of uncontrolled seizures, My memory loss & blackouts are getting worse & i need to take 28 meds a day to stay alive. This is why I'm so hung up on making my club the best I can. I'm extremely thankful to the members who have joined GPMCC on the FB page & also the local members & I don't want any of you to think I'm not. Please start scheduling time to join us on our meeting days & I really hope to see you all on October 22nd for the model show from 10am - 1pm if you enter your models you'll receive a 20% off anything in the store on that day voucher. After the show is over on the 31st while y'all are out trick or treating, ill be in the hospital again for 5 day while they try to figure out why I'm having these seizures & some other issues. No model building for me in the hospital for 5 days. No paint fumes or glue for 5 days. If anyone feels the need to visit me please remember I don't like flowers as much as I like PLASTIC MODELS.... WINK WINK.... Thank you for reading this post & I hope I didn't anger anyone. GrUmPy...

Meeting Recap at HT USA 9-6-16

GrUmPy's Plastic Model Car Club of Knoxville Tennessee & Hobby Town USA had yet another demo. This time it was on HINGES. For example, Doors, Hoods, & Deck Lids. How many times have you wanted to have your doors, hoods, and deck lids open & close when the model didn't allow it normally. Well here you go, I posted a picture of the most used hinge but there are piano hinges also called "PIN BARREL HINGES". I will post a video on these later when I build some. This Demo was put on by one of our newest local members Gary Daugherty. I tried to record him making the hinges like I did for RatRod's BMF videos, but Gary moved his hands so fast I couldn't keep the camera on the hinges no matter how how hard I tried. GrUmPy...

Meeting Recap at HT USA 8-27-16

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club of Knoxville Tennessee
& Hobby Town USA were very excited for this demonstration day. Every modeler wants their model to look as real or as awesome as possible. well by adding BMF (Bare Metal Foil) to your build that will do the trick, but only if you have the skills to do it correctly. As we learned in the Demo it may look easy, but is not necessarily all that easy. Here are some take aways from the demo... There are many different colors & kinds of BMF. Chrome, Gold, New & Improved, Black Chrome, Steel, & a few others I believe. When buying BMF expect to pay around $9.00 for one 6 x12 sheet. Yeah is steep, you pay to play as they say. apply BFM before clearing, It's seems to work better if you work from the top of the car down, but you can overlap the BMF as long as you work the edges down well. Keep in mind you'll only have about 2 minutes to make sure the placement was correct. After that the tacky side of the BMF will stick to the paint & may pull up the paint if you decide it needs to be removed so placement is very important. You can make the strips as big as you'd like. Just remember the Price Tag. Once you've placed your BMF on the model where you want it, you may notice detail lines from the model itself, simply use a Q-Tip to smooth out the BMF as best as you can then you have some options for getting the very fine detail lines. Toothpick or the Pointed Finger Nail Q-Tips.  When working around the windshield or any opening with the BMF you can just tuck the extra inside to model as long as it wont be seen or paint over the extra part you tucked in. BFM tears extremely easy, slow & steady will win this race along with a brand new #11 xacto Knife. You will only be using the very tip of the blade so don't toss out the blades, the rest of the blade has plenty of life still.

I'd like to Thank Drew "RatRod" Turner foe putting this demonstration for our club members. I know we learned a lot & I've already seen members trying their hand at this new skill they've just picked up.

Meeting Recap at HT USA

7-23-16

GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club of Knoxville Tennessee has a great meeting / Class. I started off the meeting with a tech tip I use for cleaning off bad paint jobs or glue bombs. The product I use is cheap at only  $1 per bottle & works well for stripping paint, Helps break up the old glue , strips chrome off the plastic parts & it won't hurt the model at all. Many of the members spoke up to let us know what they use. Then Brad Smith started his class on GHOST FLAMES. We had all been waiting what seemed like forever for this meeting & it was not a letdown at all. The airbrushing process is a little time consuming, but is fairly straight forward. Just like anything new  it will take practice. Ive seen some of the members posting their progress on ghost  lames & they are already looking better.

Our next scheduled meeting at HobbyTown USA is set for  Tuesday, August 2nd 6pm - 7:45pm. This will be another class I cant wait for. Gary Daugherty will be showing us his way of building door hinges, hood hinges, & hinges for your deck lids. Ive seen different ways of doing them online, but nothing beets hands on.

The meeting scheduled for Saturday, August 27th 11am -1pm will be a class on BMF / Bare Metal Foil. I'm telling you this now as a heads up. If you'd like to take part in this class Drew Turner will have strips of BMF for $1 each. BMF is not one of the cheaper parts of our hobby but from if its done right, it will change the entire look of the model. Please bring your own X-Acto Knife with multiple BRAND NEW NEVER USED #11 BLADES. Trust me if they are not perfect blades you will be wasting your BMF. If you choose to buy your own BMF. HobbyTown USA sells it for $9 a 12x 6" sheet. ( BASIC CHROME)

Lastly, our 1960 - 1969 anything goes model car builds are to be finishes & brought in on Saturday, September 17th hopefully Robert Vancel might have us a shelf or 2 to put our builds on. Also, I Not received all of our members membership fees. I know I said first 4 meetings & to show that I'm not a jerk, I just need  y'all to get the club fees in ASAP.

Just a recap of what you may have missed during this past meeting. Our next meeting will be Saturday July 23rd at our Sponsored Home of HobbyTown USA in Turkey Creek behind the Steak & Shake "Where Jacob Kraft hides out LOL" anyway.... Everyone has their $20 yearly club dues needing to be turned in. Last night I decided if everyone had them in no later than Novembers Saturday meeting that would be fine. July is officially the start of our Fiscal year. This should definitely help everyone out. The club voted on a theme build starting immediately. The theme is 60s & anything goes. The builds must be a brand new build. Starting from 7-5-16. Nothing you've already got built or stated. The builds are to be brought in on Saturday September 17th. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. Muscle car, wagons, European, open wheel, Trucks, if you can think of it from the 60's build the model & bring it that day. If I don't have everyone's phone numbers & email addresses I need those as well. Our next work shop / meeting is going to be a great one. I'll be bring my indoor paint booth, airbrush & compressor so Brad Smith can show us how to air brush GHOST FLAMES on our models. This is a meeting you'll not want to miss that's for sure. Before I forget again I spoke with Robert Vancel who happens to work at our sponsored home HOBBYTOWN USA about getting our own shelf or two for showing off what our club can do. He said he'd speak with the owners. I feel confident we will have them & be showing what our club is made of. we have also have a 9 year old rock star in our club. Harley Smith the daughter of Brad Smith Has been featured Scale Auto Magazine plus she has won many awards & trophies for mad skills. I cant wait to see what this young lady can bring to our club. Judging from what I heard during this meeting we've got a lot of members ready to bring a lot to the table & teach us what they know.

I hope every had a great time as I did. I can't wait to see where this year takes us. I see talent in our club just waiting to be unlocked & unleashed on us all.

Cleveland Tennessee Model Car Show 4-23-16

April 23, 2016
GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club members once again headed out about 2 hours south to a show in Cleveland Tennessee from GPMCC home base. This time we came loaded for bear. After a very long week and a half of cleaning, modifying, polishing, & even ruining one of my oldest builds paint jobs we finally had all our builds loaded up. This time GPMCC had a better showing of members entering, Jennifer Holliday entered 2, Morgan T-L Holliday entered 2, Cameron (our 8 year old Nephew) entered 1, Lynn Hall entered 2, Parker Hall entered 2, Joshua Scott Taylor entered 4, & I entered 15. The paperwork was awesome for that many entries. NOT!!!! We had the entry forms sent to us by email, Jennifer & I stayed up late Friday night just to get there & find out it all had to be redone because the form sent to us was different than the ones at the show. Jennifer was very frustrated to say it nicely. She pulled through for me like always. We were in a rush to get them on the tables because time was short and it seemed as soon as we all got our models on the tables the judging started. I really like how they did the judging, if you entered builds you got to vote. There were some beautifully built models there & that made it very, very hard for judging. As soon as judging was over people started putting their models away. We just looked at each other because we didn't know if they knew something we didn't. We finally just slowly gathered & put our kits away, but still looking around kind of confused. Then after the raffle tickets were all called out (Lynn won a free model), one vendor gave all junior contestants a free model and another gave them free bumper stickers. Still not sure what was happening with every one boxing their kits up, most of the vendors & other builders who entered started to leave the building. We stayed put to see how if all played out. Lucky for us that we did because to my surprise I placed 2nd in the Foreign class with my 1935 Morgan Three Wheeler, while still being excited about that my name was called again for 2nd place in the Miscellaneous class with my scratch built rock crawler. I was very glad to have the chance to meet Josh & learn some really cool techniques. We all left the Cleveland show knowing in our hearts how lucky we are to have such a great hobby & have the chance to see the talent displayed on those tables. We also know we need to step up our game & work harder for next year. Thank you reading about our time our Cleveland Tennessee show.

Knoxville Tennessee Model Show 4-16-16

April 16, 2016

2 of GrUmPy'S Plastic Model Car Club members went to the Knoxville Tennessee model show. Member Drew Turner entered 3 of the 8 builds he took with him because the club putting on the show was specialized in mainly military models and not sure about anything else. Drew got 2nd in the "All Subjects & Scales" and received an Honorable Mention in the "Factory Stock" class. Floyd Marsee Jr. received 2nd in his class & also received an honorable Mention. We are very glad here at GPMCC to know how some of our own did at shows near them. Congratulations Drew & Floyd.
